An overpainted auction advertisement of Andy Warhol’s Marilyn is the source material and component for this painting. Capturing the overpainting digital on camera, the file has been reworked once more on the computer, rendering the three-dimensional overpainting as a two-dimensional background for the new artwork on canvas. Representational associations fade away as thick layers of pigmented inkjet prints and paint come together in an effortless balance of color and texture.
